How to Install ATI ES1000 Driver for Windows Server
If you have a server that uses the ATI ES1000 video controller, also known as RN50, you may be wondering how to install the driver for Windows Server. The ATI ES1000 is an old and low-end graphics chip that was designed for Windows 2000/XP and is not supported on any Windows newer than 2008R2. However, there are some ways to make it work on Windows Server 2016 or 2019 with some limitations.
Option 1: Use the Dell or HP Drivers
Some server manufacturers, such as Dell and HP, have provided their own drivers for the ATI ES1000 video controller for Windows Server 2008. These drivers may work on Windows Server 2016 or 2019 with some compatibility settings. To try this option, follow these steps:
Download the driver from the Dell or HP website. For Dell, use this link: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=k9x3v. For HP, use this link: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_2c794b8e4d5444b49b391f8f23&swEnvOid=4037.
Extract the driver files to a folder on your server.
Right-click on the setup.exe file and select Properties.
Go to the Compatibility tab and check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for". Select Windows Server 2008 R2 from the drop-down menu.
Click OK and run the setup.exe file as administrator.
Follow the instructions to install the driver and reboot your server.
Note that this option may not work for all servers or all versions of Windows Server. You may also experience some issues with the display resolution or color depth. If this option does not work for you, try the next one.
Option 2: Use the Intel Driver
Another option is to use the Intel driver for the ATI ES1000 video controller that was released for Windows Server 2003. This driver may also work on Windows Server 2016 or 2019 with some modifications. To try this option, follow these steps:
Download the driver from the Intel website using this link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/7503/video-drivers-for-windows.html.
Extract the driver files to a folder on your server.
Open Device Manager and locate your video controller under Display adapters.
Right-click on it and select Update driver.
Select Browse my computer for driver software.
Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
Select Have disk and browse to the folder where you extracted the driver files.
Select the file named atiixpag.inf and click Open.
Select ATI ES1000 (RN50) from the list of models and click Next.
Ignore any warnings or errors and click Yes or OK to continue.
Wait for the driver installation to finish and reboot your server.
Note that this option may also not work for all servers or all versions of Windows Server. You may also experience some issues with the display resolution or color depth. If this option does not work for you either, you may have to consider upgrading your video controller or your server. 061ffe29dd
